I really really like this development!
Taeseung is reaping the consequences of having sex with Sooyoung as a method of control.
Sooyoung has always found sex as a release for his complicated emotions, he thinks of sex as the only way to be truly honest with himself and Taeseung.

Result? The harder the pressure on Sooyoung, the more intense he gets with his masochistic and submissive tendencies, to the point now of hurting himself deliberately in the name of atonement.

I like how this shows that d/s is a two-way street. The sub completely submits, but the dom also needs to control and limit carefully, bc often the sub will push themselves too far…
Since the conflict is emotional, hopefully Taeseung catches on that what Sooyoung needs right now is also emotional (so more extreme humiliation and aftercare and less physical punishment).
