I feel like some words lose their meaning when it’s converted to English like hyung or noona or ousei stuff like that cause English words don’t mean THAT much idk I’m just curious to see what somebody else would think
Things definitely get lost in translation, but I think they should keep the honorifics intact as much as possible because they’re important to the story.
A long time ago, I read a review or an opinion piece on Viz’s translation of the manga Loveless, and Viz removed all honorifics, whereas the Tokyopop’s left the honorifics and this person mentioned how honorifics show relationship status and how they change, and that’s why they’re important. Example: in Loveless, Ritsuka has a friend who calls him by his name and Yuiko feels jealous of that, so Ritsuka was like “you can call me by my name if you want” and she’s too embarrassed to do so. I forgot how Viz handled that since in their version she’s always called him by his name.
Really don’t like how silver hair guy whose name I’ve forgotten behaves yk this boy doesn’t do shit like this and you basically are coercing him into doing it ! Why you offer him a beer then have to dick out idk if I can finish. Minwoo prolly didn’t try because he values their friendship and doesn’t want to ruin it!!!! Team minwoo with that being said I think I’ll have to take a pause on reading it for now the dick in the face blew me no pun intended
