Remember in one of the chapters ML said "What should I do, I think I really like you." and MC say "What, like it was fake before" It was fake, but he started liking MC when MC was genuinely kind to him but he can't hide being a possessive asshole. He also doesn't want MC to find out about the bet so he's trying to keep him away from the friends.
