I am pretty sure the confusion is actually Tian Cai/tai's. I think as a child he thought the person was his aunt and so that's what we thought. But the author is letting us know that they are actually Tian Cai's uncle (hence the note that the AUTHOR never said the person was a woman previously). Thus, none of this is a translation issue but part of the story.

The epilogue ends with the author saying there will be a short break and then they will continue the story, so I think there is at least some more coming in the future. I feel like the author is setting up a "them starting their bakery" storyline to finish it out. At least I hope so. But there is definitely more coming based on what the author wrote in that epilogue and the translators putting "see you for season 5" at the top.
So while I agree with many people who aren’t super happy with the current prospect of a reconciliation/ grandpa arc, I want to point out that the grandfather/father wasn’t trying to be IN anyone’s life. Is it kinda weird to be sort of stalking your grandchild, yeah. But it’s super hard to tell a helpful, nice kid no. He clearly was trying to keep space from the son he wronged. We also don’t know that this arc will try to excuse what happened in the past. It could. It could be terrible. It it could also work out in a way that seems good and appropriate. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
