They think it’s okay because they do not believe it influences people's decisions. Them thinking rape isn’t a problem in fiction already shows the effects of it influencing them. How else would one get the absurd idea that raping someone is okay? Fiction always seems to find a way to romanticize everything and downplay the issues.
