I know I’ll get a lot of hate for this but no matter how much the author decorates Carcel’s character as “the ultimate green flag”, he still leaves a bitter after-taste. And please dont preach me about “if this was real life, nobody would’ve made a big issue about his cheating compared to what all he did for ines”. CAUSE THIS IS NOT REAL LIFE. THIS IS FICTION. My problem is that the author is trying to step on two stones at one time. Uptill now Ive seen two types of mls or authors: 1. Will make the ultimate green flag who’s so perfect that he cannot exist in reality. The second type is the toxic but turned green due to “the power of love” ml where the author makes the ml do all the abominable things possible and still end up with the fl. ( I loathe the second type as I genuinely believe the authors who write such stories have been cheated on or abused and are now trying to cope by creating such stories). My problem is that this author tries to fit carcel in both types. If her plan was to show that he is THE ULTIMATE LOVER who has loved ines all his previous and present lives and loves her to the point it separates from reality, then she should’ve gone and completed his character and made his a green flag from the start. It seems that the author started by creating a type 2 ml and then eventually decided to make him type 1. THIS is what makes me feel weird about Carcel. If he’s a perfect wont-exist-in-reality ml, then why did he cheat? To show that hes a human? But if you’re plan was to show him as a flawed human then why in the later part of the stories his devotion and love is reach not-so-human status??? Thats my problem. If anyone bothered to read my long ass rant- I’m open to constructive feedback and discussion. Cause even though I absolutely loved the story and did love carcel, I can’t get rid of this bitter aftertaste.
