Hello Guys I read a lot of manga here. i am doing a masters thesis based on representation of hikikomori characters in manga. manga like nhk ni youkoso, hikikomori niizuma. I am trying to do a survey on how these characters are depicted in manga. when it comes to online platforms this platform has a lot of manga readers like me! damn, it was hard to answer the female MC questions, because I've read exactly 2 manga where a female hikikomori appears (〜￣△￣)〜 I hope those answers won't have any negative impact on your research (￣∇￣")
Not at all, in fact my hypothesis suggests that there is a lack of female Hikikomori representations. Hikikomori representations in general is not mainstream but welcome to nhk gained fairly good popularity!
Correcting myself, lack of* not as in total absence but fewer representations.
