How come when we finally have an unconventional bottom and top ppl suddenly want them to switch or be the opposite? I only ever see people asking for switch when the couple is diff from the typical yaoi dynamic. I’m not against switches cus obvi that’s normal irl but It’s just annoying having to see these type of comments whenever the top isn’t super dominant or the bottom a typical submissive
Or you know, there are ppl (i.e. myself) who wanna see almost every single couple switch cause it resonates with them and there's most definitely a severe lack of it. As long as we're respectful abt it and not annoyingly bash the existing dynamics, what's the issue with some wishful commenting?

The thing is, not every comment that voiced out they want switch are as respectful as you said. Another issue is, this is already an unconventional dynamic, the bottom has the same traits as those older corporate tops everyone here so used to already. The story is supposed to be a refreshing, plot focused and slow burn but people just want the same old thing, smut focused plot with short younger bottoms and older taller tops dynamic, while being super annoying and shitty about it. Also, have you ever seen anyone commenting "wish they were switch couple" under stories like Dangerous Convenient store?

Even if it's not to my preference, I don't care about what anybody comments, as long as we acknowledge when something we want fits the plot/characters or it's just our personal wishful thinking and don't harass other over it. They can be annoying if they minimize a story to a couple's sex positions or if they try to paint a preference as the only "correct" route, otherwise I don't think it's that deep. I do agree that this specific dynamic is less common and just overall very intriguing so it wouldn't be my first thought to wish that they switch in bed at this point. We've got alot more to see of their personalities, their motivations, their limits etc. Also on your last point, it might not be alot, but I definitely have seen comments (heck, I've made them myself too) abt how I'd like tough, serious, burly guys to be on the receiving end in one way or another. For me and for many others, switch/vers couples (which can have be part of many different dynamics) is more abt feeling safe enough to explore intimacy and sexuality beyond imposed social norms, that's why we might see us asking for it in every manga. But yes, as I said, it's got to be done respectfully .

Yeah then I’m not referring to you. Its just that usually these people don’t comment this type of stuff for manhwas with dom top/sub bottom. Like I said, im not against switching but I notice these comments only appear when the bottom or top aren’t their usual dynamic which to me just gives the vibe they just want to go back to the same old boring roles. Ofc its not everybody, but a lot

I get what you’re saying about your own preferences and experiences, and that’s totally valid. But my point isn’t about you specifically or why you like switch couples though, I’m talking about the broader pattern in fandom. Whenever a story breaks away from the usual tall top + short bottom setup, a noticeable number of people immediately demand a switch. That doesn’t happen nearly as much with conventional pairings (and you know it too), it shows a double standard that stories trying something different aren’t “right”. Even when those reactions or "wishful thinking" are respectful, they can make works with unconventional dynamics feel under appreciated and might even discourage authors from trying something different. THIS is what I meant to say to you.

I understand your point, but I think you're banding together way too many people and the way they consume/process a story as an audience to simply say "anything that doesn't appreciate the story exactly as is and has nothing further to say, even respectfully, it's a disservice and demeans the story". So, let's agree to disagree. :)
