I found Touma so annoying literally every panel he was in just made me so annoyed, him manipulating a girl who wasn't fit to be in a new relationship, deliberately taking advantage of her vulnerability, filling her with doubts about Kou and constantly painting himself as a hero just really irked me alot idk why kou gets more hate than him typical manipulative nice guy

Ppl always bring up that Kou snatched Futaba when Touma said he would do the same as Kou if Kou makes Futaba cry again and Kou only asked her what she wants for herself and Futaba decided to stop pleasing ppl. The boy just asked and in the same chapter Futaba broke up with Touma. There was no snatching or courting

Rather than blaming Kou (yes he made mistakes too) I felt that Narumi manipulated him and that touma wasn't the nice guy he pretended to be. He deliberately manipulated a vulnerable girl, took advantage for his own benefit, messed with her head (convinced her Kou had no feelings for her, that he "wasn't like kou", that the kiss meant nothing etc-), bad mouthed Kou to make himself look better, put pressure on her and made Futaba constantly feel guilty. When he realised it wasn't working and that Kou was trying to fix everything with Futaba he demanded an answer despite promising her time, kept insisting and basically forced her into a terrible relationship she wasn't ready for (which he knew because he didn't want to lose his chance. The guy even saw Kou in the crowd looking for her, refused to accept a NO as an answer because as he said he knew he only had that 1 moment yet ppl paint him as a hero.

Don't quite understand why people hate on Kou but maybe it's because the older I get the more I appreciate flawed, imperfect character's like him. He is a 16 year old teen that got emotionally manipulated by a toxic friend just as he was starting to move on from his mother's death. She triggered his PTSD, dragged him down and Kou felt guilty for not prioritising his mother's death!! We even see him reaching out to Futaba to talk, asking her what he should do but sadly Narumi and Touma gotten into her head so she didn't, asking to be rejected by him instead. It's only thanks to futaba he realised time doesn't stand still and that it's okay to move on, to be happy and to be loved.

Kou deadass named his cat Futaba and y'all believe he wasn't serious about her the whole time? Everything he did was out of love, he wanted to be with her but felt responsible for that bitch and was afraid he'd loos Futaba like his mom. That bitch pulled him right back into darkness. Is that stupid? Obviously. Understandably as someone who had depression, yes.
Touma might seem like the “nice guy” on the surface, but his actions tell a different story. He didn’t just fall in love with Futaba he manipulated her into being with him. He saw Kou trying to fix things and panicked, pushing her into a relationship when she was still clearly confused and emotionally tied to Kou.
Instead of giving her space or clarity, Touma love-bombed her with affection, guilt-tripped her into staying, and constantly made her feel like she owed him love just because he was “there for her.” That’s not romantic it’s emotionally manipulative. He fed her doubts about Kou, framing him as someone unreliable while making himself look like the better option, even though he knew her heart was never truly with him.
What’s worse is that he acknowledged this! He knew Futaba wasn’t ready, yet he still pushed for a relationship, trying to win by force what Kou had by connection. That’s not healthy love that’s selfishness dressed as patience.
