I hate hate hate this thing authors do where the mc is abandoned by their parent(s) in a bad situation and then later finds them living a happy life with a new family without any kind of consequence. Then they make the mc be happy for the parent that ran off or at least sees them and then is suddenly at peace with having been fucking abandoned. It's so unfair and unsatisfying. All it does is make me hate the parents even more than I already did and wonder how the mc is just okay with it. Can at least one of these bad parents suffer even a little bit just one god damn time?
