I was riveted all the way up until the final few chapters. It's a shame the ending just wasn't very well-executed and was a bit confusing. I'm giving a spoiler warning just in case.

What I think this manga is about, is denial of identity leading to the growth of malice until it consumes your entire being and all that's left is the malice. The only thing that matters is you because everything you see is polluted by this twisted perception.

How when you meet someone who reflects that state of being back at you, the malice just grows and grows. You can't heal each other, and even if you try to heal yourself the other will drag you back.

It also seems to have an angle of identity where denial of your negative emotions is a denial of self. The human can't exist with only goodness and purity. Humans are only complete in complexity.

It's ambitious and interesting. But I think this writer needs to mature more as a storyteller and not just an intellectual. The protagonist isn't utilised effectively. He comes off as generic. The qualities that would have dragged me completely into him as a character felt disconnected, not latent or suppressed. When those qualities weren't being deliberately expressed, he was boring. It's necessary to make your protagonist interesting and engaging even when you're telling this kind of story.

I think the sex, as it was at the end, needed to be less explicit. I'm not one of the children that read yaoi and freak out when they see anything but lightsabers and if I was this would have been fine since there are lightsabers everywhere. But the sex didn't have enough internal aspects to communicate what it was trying to.

The aesthetics of the characters felt generic as well. The expressions were properly done but there was nothing to separate the art from a million other manga. I think a story like this would have benefitted from a better artist who drew like they cared about the story and not like they were trying to fulfil a commission as fast as possible.

I came here looking for a certain dynamic. This was recommended, and I'm leaving disappointed. This story had a lot of potential where so many other manga I've enjoyed and rated highly had far less. That's, unfortunately, why this ended up so disappointing. Nobody expects burger to be a steak, but when you're eating a delicious steak and keep biting into gristle it's a more disappointing meal
