Guys in 220 why did everyone (the readers) grieve over kim dokjas death even thought he didnt really die ? Is it bec he thought his companions gonna slowly forget him his story will disappear but that also wasnt the case i hope my question was clear

Even though he didn't automatically die, he was going to a place where it was impossible to live and no one could stop it. That's why everyone cried. The despair, frustration and helplessness of not being able to protect your companion because of the scenario and to just watch them suffer
