Basically, the fl believes that they got a male bird to replace her so she gets mad. Then the commander tells her (more like Luke says it out loud) that it's only temporary and that he's going to be gone soon. After that, she calms down and takes a look at the bird and believes that he is hot- (only for a sec) he is much cleanier and takes more care of himself before the male bird gets sent away. The next time we see the male bird he is trying to court her he brings a bug and starts to rub his neck on her neck(?)(more like starts pecking at her?). Luke comments how it'll be great if they can have a few new baby birds around. The commander gets jealous and makes the male bird get taken out.
