uh, y’all, wasn’t there a confession tho? where Jian Ye confessed and like… Zhan Xi didn’t exactly say “yes” but more or less accepted him and then it’s been ambiguous what exactly is going on with them since then?

yeah that's what i remember too. they've been a lot more closer since then but there wasn't anything official between them either or at least nothing they've shown us coz all this time i was hoping they at least have a mutual understanding regarding the status of their relationship

Last time Jian Yi confessed, XiXi simply acknowledged that he understood Jian yi's feelings, since the last time Jian Yi tried to confess XiXi just mistook it as him coming out. Xixi hadn't yet acknowledged his own feelings on the matter at the time, though (that one came about 100 chapters later) so I wouldn't say there was anything ambiguous about it. As it stands, their friendship had already always been super close and "intimate" since Jian Yi was always a touchy-feely kinda guy, so after the confession they just went back to *their* normal friendship.

At the current "present" timeline, XiXi knows he likes Jian Yi and knows Jian Yi likes him too, but says nothing– meanwhile Jian Yi likes XiXi and has seemingly just accepted that friendship's what he'll get from XiXi. Considering what happened after the first confession, Jian Yi probably went with the same mindset as at that time (just a more positive one, regarding the fact he isn't being pushed away).
At the "future" timeline, we have been give veeery little to work with regarding their relationship status or feelings in general. All we know is Xixi doesn't hate Jian Yi anymore, and they've more or less gone back to their middle-school dynamic.

Anyways, anything more than that is speculation so. Nothing official, not even mutual understanding-wise. Unfortunately

so I guess by “ambiguous” I mean Zhan Xi has not made his feelings explicitly clear, at least that the audience has gotten to see, and then it’s hard to say what exactly their status is in the “future” setting. So, that’s what I mean by it’s ambiguous.

at any rate, I’ve accepted that this may be as good as it’s going to get with Chinese censorship and anything more that we get will be a pleasant surprise lol the tiny kisses that side couple has gotten were a pleasant surprise for me, for example
