The juxtaposition of this whole fiasco is predictable—very apparent ever since the captive of satoko. Shinpei’s infiltration was to INITIALLY save satoko and live with her but in the end, the plan can even kill Satoko, maybe even the both of them. Unfortunately, their story was bound to end tragically.
Tho i think Shinpei might survive and die of old age (guessing from the snippet in the first chap). He might CHOOSE to survive; and yep, emphasis on choose as he is the type of man who loooooves to take revenge seriouuuussllyyy on ppl who hurt his only love, Satoko. He might choose to survive as his way of suffering—his way of repentance for things he regret doing and not doing for Satoko.

I pity him and his relationships, he got groomed and ab*sed for both of his rs (like imagine answering the question “Who was ur first love?” and it goes like “oh I loved my bro’s mom”).
