I get the frustration but honestly communication isn't that easy whether it be fictional or reality, especially if you started off on a rough and rocky road and don't really know how to communicate properly in the first place. Even if you do know, the moment, the situation and other elements can clash together during communicating with someone and can get you to say things that shouldn't be said or it's not in the right order of how you want to say it. Communication is a two-way street too.
I personally love how the story depicts a realistic scenario of miscommunication and misunderstanding. It just shows how much these two value each other tremendously.
