Putting aside all the detective stuff he does, the information he knows is so base level. He’s like a jack of all trades, master of none. They make the other characters so impressed by his entry level knowledge of science and business and whatnot. A professor wouldn’t be impressed by what he said, because it’s what they'll teach him anyways (and is also pretty obvious). A thing I’ve noticed with these types of stories is that when the author doesn’t have a deep understanding of the specific field they want to portray, they make the surrounding characters dumber to make the main character smarter, even though it’s really not that impressive. Also, the whole thing about him noticing micro expressions and determining what they’re thinking is fun, but it’s also a pseudoscience (primarily used by cops to profile people) and it’s based entirely on your assumption of the person and not fact.
I’m enjoying the story so far, but man, sometimes it’s frustrating to pretend that the things he says are impressive…
