Ace is a selfish brat but it’s pretty obvious to king anyway that jay was falling in love with ace the selfish brat. I dunno imagine being immortal and watching the love of your life falling in love with your “son”. Even king had lived he would’ve been miserable and Jay would be bouncing back and forth between the two.
Don’t think Jay and Ace would last, Ace is much too immature and impulsive I give it a 100 years before Jay kills him self and Ace finds someone else.
