I wish the author allowed for the “fake death” to occur even if they’re ultimately both sad and broken at being apart. Then give the story “The End” before proceeding with a modern reincarnation where they have new lives and new families and one, if not both of them, remember their past life. You know, something like what happened in “Taming the Tiger”, but longer. Because as much as they love each other right now, there is no way they’ll end up happy.
