Paid subscription services and official publications probably wouldn’t have happened in the scale that it is happening now if it weren’t for piracy, like be for real. This could be seen in a lot of danmei works. Do you think any of them would be officially published to such a wide audience if people didn’t enjoy and share unofficial translations for it? If fandoms weren’t made over unofficially shared work?
