So what I understand that they know each other for a really long time and that the top fall in love at a young age and its not allowed to have a much younger lover and the top fight for the bottoms love but for both of them Consequences the top is hurting his self because of thoughts of the bottom living him and he is scared and when the bottom don't get Attention from him he starts to get possessive and the bottom has a trauma now and also his getting nightmares and he starts to hurt himself in his sleep and the top thinks its his fault that the bottom is like this (sorry if my English is not good)

What I understand is that Amber and Tennessee knew each other when Amber was a child. Most probably it was Tennessee who rescued Amber from an abusive past where he was physically abused by that asshole named Houston.

Amber fell in love with Tennessee but he doesn't know how to deal with his feelings, thus why he harms himself, as that was a way before for him to not think of anything else.

Now they see each other again, and although it wasn't exactly smooth sailing, Amber and Tennessee are kind of together. However, Amber is still harming himself, a way to gain pity at first, and now a way to punish himself for thinking bad thoughts regarding Tennessee. When they were sleeping side by side, Tennessee is getting nightmares, and Amber mentioned it was worst than when they weren't together. And obviously Amber's gonna assume it's because of him that Tennessee is getting worse. So he cuts himself again, he's thinking it's a punishment for himself. Seriously, this is just a serious misunderstanding. As they're both new to this they still aren't talking much. Hope they clear it up soon. Both of them got a traumatic past, I hope they get over it, as hard as it may be, and live healthily and happily together.
