Leoni's reaction is totally normal and I'm looking forward to her warming up to little princey but I think she forgets what abuse the past prince would have gone through, of course it was hard for him to communicate how much he loved his wife, he didn't know how!
He never had anybody to love him in the past, how is he supposed to know how to show that affection? Not to mention he's had trouble physically with speaking! Of course that humiliation and embarrassment would have impeded his social life.
