I very much prefer a “protagonist to villainess” downfall like this than the predictable “you took him from me”. It’s a take on a Mary Sue becoming a victim of their own environment and even though I knew Iberlin was going to become the antagonist later on the payoff doesn’t feel cheap or lazy.
