Here is my theory; because the story are focusing on Hee-seo and Tae-kyung all the time, so we don’t pay attention to the serial murder from 2004-2022 that Tae-kyung announces at the end of season two.
The story started from Hee-seo’s mom; Kwon Jeong-ae’s death that we understood that she was the one who committed suicide by arson but actually she was murdered by Jae-won’s mother; Han Seok-ju who was an adoptive mother of Tae-kyung at that time. But before Hee-seo’s mom death, she met Tae-kyung who was a teenager and told him the truth that she would turn herself in because she killed someone. My question is what is the real reason that Hee-seo’s mom kill that person? She was on the run and hid herself in the little city, and told her younger sister (Hee-seo’s aunt) to not tell anyone about her whereabout before she died because she knew that there were people who wanted to harm her.
Everyone who died (was murdered), they were from the same place; St. Veronica Children’s home which the real owner was Han Seok-ju’s father, and is called Chairman.
In the chapter 95, Hee-seo’s friend who is a detective get an information that the children from St. Veronica who got adopt, they later sent back because their adoptive parent death, and it happened for 11 times. Is it possible that those people who were an adoptive family were murdered too? Because those people were connected to the chairman, in the case that they were relatives of that chairman and it means if they were gone, they wouldn’t have a share in the inheritance.
Those kids who became an adult and soon discovered the truth that the Chairman and Han Seok-ju’s family were behind their adoptive family’s death. Some were murdered by the Chairman’s people. While Hee-seo’s mom was threatened by Seok-ju and ordered her to kill another person; Kim Cheol-woo (in Ch. 22) who was also from St. Veronica. And if she wouldn’t do it, they would harm her and her son; Hee-seo instead.
While Jeong In-beom (the one who was a bully to Tae-kyung when they were kids, and threatened Hee-seo’s mom to get money) said to Seok-ju in the warehouse(in Ch. 97) that he wasn’t a traitor and he would like to talk to her father. He also said that he would kill Tae-kyung as they agreed, he denied and said he knew nothing from Hee-seo’s mom. It means there are other things that Seok-ju tried to hide; Hee-seo’s mom death and arson.
Also, there is a scene showing Hee-seo’s investigation room back in chapter 83. Hee-seo had been texting with “G” all the time about asking Hee-seo to going back to the office (a legal company, maybe in Germany or US.) and “G” asked Hee-seo if he needed their help to arrest Seok-ju. Maybe “G” is related to chairman or Seok-ju’s family as well.
Seok-ju said in the car (in ch. 97) that there are 3 more people left (to kill.) I don’t think that Seok-ju and the chairman murders people for fun but because there were some secret behind that, and they have to eliminate all people from the that place; St. Veronica.
I hope this sounds make sense. Let’s wait for the season 3. I wanna know where is Hee-seo right now! Come back ~ T_T
