I think the killer of the mom is the one who has had a crush on him the "nice" brother . Theory one bad brother was probably in their village there already killing so nice brother went and killed mom so that mc can go live with him or lean on him . Theory two nice brother told bad brother about the village and probably said something like their talking bad about you . And I also feel like nice brother could care less about MC's people and was only "nice" because he's attracted to him
