As someone who is a big fan of "go no contact with your abusive family/fiance/other, and, if possible, fuck them over before you leave" trope, I don't fully see it here, and I'd really like it if they reconciled.

Don't get me wrong, the entire father-daugther relation only exists thanks to the efforts of the child (which isn't how it should be) and the dad was an a-hole at the very beginning, but at the same time, he's been improving for years, taking the daugther's side, hasn't abused her in any way except for some harsh words at the very beginning, and most importantly has listened to her and is trying to put even more of an effort than before. And I get the daughter was shocked when she read the book, but she didn't experience it, we don't even know if the book is to be fully trusted.

Idk man, I know it's complicated, but for the first time I'm rooting for them to reconcile, even if it's not a close father-daugther relationship, I hope she doesn't completely cut him off.
