I have a questionnn. So I saw a TikTok today of this girl explaining to her partner the books she has read and it was like the we listen and we don’t judge trend. ANYWAYS. These books were like so crazy, glorifying SA (romanticizing it) and toxic relationships and such. So I don’t rlly care if ppl read that stuff, honestly if u can separate fiction and reality, by all means read it idc. BUT when BL on here shows some SA, ppl drop it (valid, cuz there is a lot) but they act like BL/Yaoi are the only genre that does this. I’m here to say it is EVERY FREAKING ROMANCE GENRE. not saying everyone should just deal with it, but saying BL is the only one with this problem is just false. Do u think it’s cuz there are pictures drawn? And it actually shows it? But man those romance books are more graphic with words than any of the BL manwhas and mangas I have read lol. Anyways I don’t want arguments, just opinions, I was just appalled at this girl describing these books and everyone in the comments acting like it’s a normal book . One was infamously “Haunting Adeline” or something like that lol
this, doesn't matter if it's straight, gl or bl, SA should never be romanticized, and once, when I commented abt it (on tiktok), some of the booktok girlies were like "duh, it's dark romance" like ok I get it, but it's insane when they wish to have a guy like those so-called "dark romance" books they've been reading just bcz the author described them as hot, possessive, obsessive or whatever

Agreed! Tbh I haven't read them but I know damn well. There is a bunch of "booktok girlies" on the internet who do nothing but read problematic porn (or 'dark romance's as they call it). So it's definitely not just bl that has this stuff. Also I've seen plenty of people literally worship zade meadows (the ml of haunting Adeline) and glorify all of his problematic actions (the gun scene iykyk). Also I'm not really criticising them here since I'm probably not much better than them (if not worse) considering my reading lists and my favourite characters.

Like could have been honest from the start and just ask for help instead of making a false relationship so to speak. I mean MC would understand cuz he also lost someone.
