Not sure if you like Yaoi/Bl, but one that I would absolutely recommend to you is "Tale of the yellow dragon." The story itself doesn't really start off sad or anything, but around the middle is where it gets kinda sad. I loved this one so very much; out of all the manga's from Brothers without a tomorrow. These two are my babies
