Pee created a topic of Jinx

Ive said this here before but ill repeat it, i think jaekyung had such potential to be an emotionally complex character but Jinx in general just lacks the depth to be able to properly handle such a character. I am empathetic toward his situation, but I still am not believing that he is worth saying stuff like 'people who dont feel bad for him just dont understand his character!' because this story is just not one for a character with proper layers.

My point is that I both understand what people mean when they say they dont feel bad as well as when people say he is a complicated character even if i slightly disagree with both. People dont feel bad because all characters in Jinx dont fufill the potential they have to be well written and thought out characters due to the lack of general development in the story, and the pretty repetitive storyline. I feel like both Dan and Jaekyung could've been so much better if the plot and character building in general was more explored than it probably was. The present story just feels like depressing trauma dumping with little to no character development from the start to now..

Okay, we see Jaekyungs hurtful past, but how can some expect for everyone to care when there is hardly anything to connect to the characters? I don't exactly feel emotional for him because this is a very surface level backstory too... Evil mean seme has an abusive mafia father and grows up to learn skill to succeed in life then manipulates and control vulnerable naive broke uke until he has a depressive episode.

I really wanted to love Jinx since the fandom content is so amazing, I've seen edits of Jinx that have made me feel more emotional than reading it. I just really wished if the author wanted to add backstories like this and complicated characters that have many layers, that she wouldve thought out the basic pacing and plot a little better and explored more complex behaviours than the stereotypical seme, because honestly reading Jaekyungs childhood, I can almost taste the misunderstood troubled man he could've been written to be but he really wasn't written in a way where you can feel he is misunderstood, he just feels very flat.

I'm not saying she has to write an amazing psychological horror or anything, I think the basic outline of the characters, their past from what we know, their overrall trope has sooo much potential and I kind of mourn what it could've been when I see stuff like animations or fan edits that slightly build their own little plotline with the songs they use and stuff...it makes it seem like such a beautiful complicated story about a difficult toxic unconventional relationship in my head when I see really moving fan content. I wish the writer started with the story a little differently than it did with the pacing and stuff too, that probably would've changed a lot more than some might think.

I kind of feel the basic storyline is perhaps a little similar to Waterside night (maybe a stretch for some but i see it lol) and i feel as if Waterside night had more genuinely emotionally complex characters that viewers could feel for and maybe even relate to more widely, with the explicit topic of suicidal (and technically homicidal) ideation, how genuinely tired, done, and mentally worn out Euihyun was, even some of his intrusive thoughts and wondering if things would've turned out differently if he didn't save his brother argh...there's just so many sides of the main character you see that feels so raw to how the human mind works, and how morally grey and guilty trauma can make you. How Euihyun's attitude toward relationships and alphas changed and twisted at highs and lows felt so much more genuine and deep compared to Dan, Euihyun's personality really developed as his relationship progressed with Taeju even at the more toxic and bumpy parts of the story. I know i talked about Jaekyung for most of this, but Dan's character left me the most disappointed to be honest... I really reallllyyyy feel like i wouldve loved him if he had a little more inner depth and development, i felt like his inner monologue was a bit quiet and held back for what he has and was going through throughout the series so far. He just felt like a very small quiet character and he hasnt exactly changed rapidly from his original naivety even with how his situation has changed. But anyways, in truth i hope Jaekyung ends up how Taeju did, or... even more submissive LOL

If anyone has any opinions they'd like to share feel free to reply but keep it nice plez! Thank u for anyone who cared to read my silly thoughts and absolutely no hate to fans of this, its my opinion and i am not taking the side of people who hate on this manwha for stupid reasons, and i get along with many jinx fans personally ^~^

(I will continue reading every update, and i will forfeit and bite my tongue if i turn out to like Jinx by the end hehe)
