u guys r kinda weird hating on mc for running away bc the emp loved mc n was treating her ‘good’ while the emp does genuinely love mc, at the same time he loves her like a child loves his favorite toy he legit feels entitled to her bc she was the only one who he could be ‘dependent’ on i guess? he only felt that feeling of love bc she was interesting to him n acted differently from what he expected
u wanna call mc selfish for doing the things she did (not to say she’s not bc she is selfish) but turn around n sympathize w the emp as if he didn’t try to ruin ppls lives in a romantic pursuit to gain back what was his all because he believed it was his right to do so after losing his wife
i mean yes i do feel for the emp bc he’s foolish but like be serious if ur gonna be mad at a character for smth at least be mad at everyone who portrays that trait u hate yk?
while it’s frustrating that mc won’t tell him why she’s running away i understand it bc she’s so terrified of the emp i don’t understand how u see n read her entire meltdown at the temple where’s she’s about to strangle herself bc she’d rather die than be in the hands of the emperor n then go “why won’t she just tell him???” like u have the answer right there
