The comment section of an older yaoi I'm reading is now being FLOODED with people complaining about rape and what-not. Like 3-5 years ago, no one said or did anything and just said hoe "hot" and "spicy" the story was.

I think it’s because Jinx is literally one of, if not THE, most popular BLs out right now. It’s getting a lot of exposure and it’s probably the first people are seeing SA so violently in a HUGE main stream BL. I’ve been reading BL and yaoi for OVER 10 years now. TRUST ME when I say people have been complaining about SA since the dawn of BL. Jinx is not special at all. If it happens ONCE in a manga/manhwa, NO MATTER how old, you’ll find people complaining about it. The difference is this audience is HUGE and a majority haven’t read anything more fűcked up, like Dark Fall or Roses and Champagne. This audience came from the BJ Alex fanbase so most were expecting something like that. With a rocky top but not a straight abusive one, and definitely NOT all the SA in this one.

The issue with wokefujoshis isn't just "not liking" something..it's when they start acting like their dislike means the thing is morally wrong and that everyone else has to hate it too. Saying "I don't like Saw" is different from saying "people who watch Saw are awful and it should be banned"

I agree with you, and add another point about the conflict between the popularity of the webtoon due to its attractive art style and the dissatisfaction with the writing quality compared to the artwork.

Many readers, both new and experienced in the yaoi genre, are lured in by the captivating art but feel let down by the story's weak writing. As a result, readers are left confused, frustrated, and constantly voicing their discontent, leading to a wave of negative comments and reactions.

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY stand by this. The author released such a compelling story for BJ Alex, and with the hype SHE MADE for Jinx, the let down was immense for many. She could have easily made the story more interesting by giving Jinx a unique story but instead decided to play on overused troupes, and not even GOOD overused troupes. The concept was there for Jinx, but it felt like author-nim wasn’t really interested in making a compelling and emotional story for it.

I agree. They are free to say whatever, but it becomes a nuisance when they basically belittle people for enjoying it. If it's terrible, go elsewhere.

I've read a lot if comments - not once did anyone mention Mingwa or the readers. Everyone talked about the plot and the character.

Nah...I've seen plenty of comments go after readers directly or indirectly. People love to hide behind "I'm just talking about the story" while sliding in jabs that make it clear they're judging anyone who enjoys it...Let's not pretend every critique has been some pure, plot-only discussion..a lot of it turns into moral policing real quick

The characters behaved in more realistic way.. well, with far less cliches prior to break-up speech. Author could have gone one step further and break them up in less ridiculous way. Then it would have been peak story, imo

Oh, ok... the site does this a lot. It did fit the tone, and even theme of age "inappropriate" behavior. Although, I have a feeling that a hint of exploration of an additional reason why he maybe attracted to older guy will not be explored. Regardless it is still pretty well-written dynamic.
