alright I was so heated with the prequel I'm glad the author actually acknowledges some things here (that I disliked that they weren't clearer then and was framed into something else completely)
touma was so preoccupied about his own feelings
sou was actually doing everything on earth just to be with touma. ignoring girls, even his godforsaken gf at the time. only god knows how touma deflected that and thought his love was fake
touma is someone who easily resigns/surrenders
touma is an overthinker and was overthinking a lot of things which led him to get sick of all the emotions surrounding love. and I think he just needed some time away from that to settle his feelings
alright with all this additional context, it doesn't sound as bad anymore. I'm glad the author actually went this way. though minase is more interesting to me at the moment and his idea of "whoever comes, whoever goes" compliments sou's "one true love". it could make an interesting dynamic but I lowkey don't like how minase is treating it like a game so it might take a while for them to make sense. it makes him an interesting character individually though
ughhhh I really hate how this manga managed to brainwash everyone into thinking touma is the only victim and that maki is right all the time. the portrayal is so unfair when most of the time it's touma who's not doing anything and already surrendered FROM THE FUCKING START.
just know that I'm rooting for maki and touma only because of pettiness and I don't find their relationship interesting at all.
I understand they're both highschoolers and don't have good communication but they both still lowkey annoy me. but more for touma than sou. sou always tries to reassure him and say he really loves him but touma always builds a wall despite claiming he loves sou first and more... it's as if he's the one who truly doesn't love sou even though he insists in his head that it's the other way around. it's not like sou did something opposite of favoring touma for him to be so pessimistic by default. bruh he was literally prioritizing touma over his gf... touma was just assuming all these things about his childhood friend all on his own, it's so frustrating. sou's fault is being too possessive but touma's insistence on pushing him back is more annoying to me. he could literally put in more effort bruh but he's given up from the start because "it was so easy to grasp his love, as if it wasn't real". pure and utter bullshit. THEN WORK TOWARDS MAKING IT REAL MF. felt so vindicated over the fact touma admitted he isn't even sure if he loves sou. but it's so distasteful it's framed around "I don't love him anymore" BS cause in the end it's all his fault, his mind, that broke him off that feeling. the other person is trying and you're half assing all this. all the while acting like the victim. and I fucking hate how the story portrays as if touma doesn't care about himself when this is rooted from him only ever looking at himself. this is literally also why sou's insecurity keeps growing. fuck this shit bruh. other unrequited lovers would kill to be in your place. I hope they never get back in the sequel and sou be happy with someone else. touma can go enjoy himself with maki since he seems to be already putting more effort for him anyways.
tldr; really annoying how all this is framed as if it's sou who's majorly in the wrong

but aaaaaaaaaa the cliffhanger ╥﹏╥ I usually disregard exes plotlines but something about this makes me feel so uneasy. the fact she actually knew him when he was still green behind the ears and that he relied on her reminds me of the countless other romance plots where the guy just can't seem to let them go (understandably so especially when they feel like they owe them) and I feel like that is where this is heading

I feel bad for takara's gf but I'm ngl he handled that really well. broke up immediately after he discovered his sexuality and was genuinely very apologetic about it. he's just a bit slow so he didn't get it immediately and had to google it which is very fair for a teenager. I think the comments are being very hard on him...
chubby yachiro was so cute too :( I mean I like how he decided to exercise himself but my main issue is that I don't like how yuzuha only considered being sexual with him after he slimmed down. like even if he's not chubby anymore, I would've liked it better if he totally fell in love with him even before the transformation and not just treat him kindly as a friend
