Okay the cheater wasn't THAT bad Which confirms that This backstory wasn't used to excuse the character but just to showcase more of his personality and way of thinking.
Before someone replies "who asked", nobody did but I saw another comment that this chapter still doesn't excuse anything so I wanted to explain that the purpose is to see more of the character not to excuse him.
