I got into BL by chance back in 2018 and I am so glad I did. I have read a fair share of BL mangas and novels. And with time, I realized that I preferred novels and mangas that didn't portray the shou/uke as a literal damsel in distress or a fair “maiden”, I mean c’mon if I had to read that, I could have read hetero novels and mangas. And I am not completely against it, don't get me wrong. Just imo, I just prefer settings that have non-stereotypical bottoms.
