I'm at a bad point in my life, but I'll try to be brief. This story, unlike what we see a lot in this world of BL, does not follow the extremely optimistic line we are used to. However, it also does not follow the line of exceptions, which are simply... too pessimistic. It is not a criticism of any of the works that could fit into these two aspects mentioned above; but it's impossible to deny that Love Or Hate is realistic. It's raw, it's everyday, hits too close to home. That's why it's so painful; so it's the kind of thing that makes you want to sit down and reflect on some of the deeper aspects of life. The characters aren't caricatures, they're people like all of us who took time out of our lives to read it. I must confess that I don't usually like things that involve a lot of emotion and make me reflective. I'm a denialist, and facing emotions for me is a hindrance. Generally, I like to think that life is easier than it really is, but... that's simply not true. So, I can say that it was interesting to be slapped in my face.
