the pacing is dog shit. theres no mystery or tension. everything is resolved in the next chapter. its revealed that the mc's father forced him to fight the devour nachal and none of his teammates give a fuck??? lmaoo. they don't even acknowledge how fucked up that is and just move on. this story would be so good if it just took its time. why tf am I even learning about the truth about the devour nachal rn. why can't I learn about it later in a big battle reveal? even the action feels fast. each nachal power the MC acquires should feel significant so we can understand the weight of his power and and the potential risk he might face and what it means for the story going forward. instead I never feel like he'll ever lose a fight. every time he gets hurt ik he'll win and get a new power. where's the conflict? it feels like instead of making this into multiple fleshed out arcs the author is trying to race to the finish line. there is one caveat and that is that the art is absolutely gorgeous very beautiful characters and designs. its a shame
For all Heonjay defenders and especially the commentor who said that Heojay haters are abliest (wtf)
Being mentally challenged does not excuse any of Heonjay's actions. Plenty of mentally challenged people go their whole lives without ever doing the things he does. I feel bad for the circumstances in which he was raised, the bullying he experienced, and how he was taken advantage of by his coach. But from the moment he cut off the coach's legs out of "love" or whatever...... yeah no.
He's a grown ass man capable of making his own decisions mental illness or not. He raped and abused fellow inmates alongside his brother. It doesn't matter that Jingi was the "master mind" or whatever when Heonjay still partook in the same actions that he did. He's just as guilty.
Plus something very concerning that a lot of people seem to overlook is that he's had fantasies of cutting Myeon and seeing him bleed. Don't give me that "oh their just fantasies" when the whole reason he's in prison is because he cut someone's legs off. He's fully capable of and has demonstrated that he can make those fantasies reality.
He's also not some innocent cinnamon roll. he's capable of being manipulative and looking out of his own self interest. He told Myeon about how he wanted to try new things and talk to more people deliberately so that he could use Myeon's kindness to get closer to him. Initially he used this to get closer in the sexual sense because Myeon would be too kind to reject his sexual advances. Now he's trying to get closer in a relationship way..... which leads to us another instance of disturbing behavoir. His jealousy.
He's so jealous and self serving that he would allow his own brother to be killed as long as he could have Myeon to himself. He heard those inmates plotting on Jingi and deliberately led Myeon away from the tent where the attack was planned. Basically guaranteeing that it will happen and that Jingi might die... what a sweet guy he is <3
I don't mind that people like Heonjay. His dimples, smile, timidity, mannerism, and crush on Myeon are all endearing. However, what I DO mind is people trying to paint him as something he is not and babying him as if he's not a red flag just like his brother. If you like a red flag character be unapologetic about it, there's no shame in that. Just don't make Heonjay out to be a shy timid baby who's just following evil Jingi's lead. He's a grown ass man capable of making his own decisions and has full responsibility for all the wrong that he's committed. You don't have to erase his agency just to make Jingi look worse. Let's keep it a stack, BOTH of them are awful.

So from my understanding, Seo-In has an obsessive personality type but is afraid to reach out first because as a child, he's felt that rejection of love from his adoptive parents. As a result, he tends to probe and prod at others to essentially test and push their affection. We saw that with the couple as children, and it also explains why he's so push and pull with Yeongwoon. He tends to be sweet when the MC is, but retaliates at any slight hint of Yeongwoon pulling away.
Yeonwoon is also seen to be a little possessive of the ML(although within very reasonable bounds) but because he feels that he's been played with and used by Seo-In in the past as a stand-in(at least in his mind), now he's particularly wary of getting too emotionally invested. So he tends to push and pull too, but bc he's got this whole inner conflict going on.
Jaewon is my least fav just bc he feels very one-dimensional. He repeats the same lines over and over again, 'youre my shadow'. If we at least saw signs of him being upset by their parents attention to Seo-In, or that he was greedy for his family's attention, id understand him more. I wonder if the author will flesh out more about how his illness impacted his mental health bc most times we see him, the dude seems fine. But someone once said he's not a real antagonist, but rather a plot device, which i think makes his repetitive character traits more bearable.
The mom is interesting. She definitely cares for Seo-In, but I think she just prioritizes the idea of her perfect, unbroken family more. She might actually be more biased towards Seo-In as the stand-in for her dead son and the one that followed in her footsteps than Jaewon.
Are you so happy to conceive my child that you can't restrain yourself?" I'm a playbo...
