I don't know much about them but from what i've read on the spoiler.
.
Their family used to be very harmonious and happy. They were a loving parents toward Nora once. Until the shitty prince, Theo start to hang out at the Nurnsberg Mansion. Theo was jealous of that because he didn't receive the same affection from the King nor the Queen. So one day Theo break one of precious artifact or something like that, owned by Nora's father. The artifact was treasured by the Duke. When both Nora parents came to the scene, the Prince accused Nora was the one who broke the artifact. The Duke took Prince words and believe the prince so when Nora tried to denied, the Duke was disappointed at Nora and accused him lying (This may due to how the prince fake sweet behaviour infront of them). Ever since then, the Duke started to become colder to Nora and started to give attention more to the Prince. Nora also started to pull himself away from his parents.

Haven't read ahead yet, but from the looks of it Nora's parents probably babied the prince cuz his the son of their good friend (the first empress who looks like shuli or mayhaps the emperor) cuz he didn't have a long relationship with his deceased mother or a good one rn with his father, emperor. Thus siding with the prince when he blamed Nora for breaking the artifact. They keep trying to be like parents for the prince since then at the expense of making out their own son as a liar and estranging their relationship to this point. Nora's mom is realizing how much of a strain its put on Nora to completely lose faith in his own parents to be there for him now hence slipping away. At this point seems like he has no expectations of his father. Im leaning on the theory they just wanted to be able to give their son of their deceased friend what they couldn't have now that they aren't here anymore, and hopefully the dad comes to his senses soon. Seeing Nora get yelled at and turned away constantly is breaking my heart T^T
