The author depicting the bigger one as a bottom is very nice really but that doesnt mean u have to be permanently one role does it? Let a couple enjoy themselves in any way they wish, its not like they have a problem switching (besides the fact that he feels guilty about doing so cuz he thinks he is gonna hurt his bf)
