when i read stories that arent fluff or ur typical bl, i don’t get why some of you are so suprised when characters aren’t totally likeable or a full green flag. it’s completely unrealistic when compared to real life, which is full of humans who are nuanced. flawed characters are what make stories compelling, it makes them relatable in a way, and while some of their actions might not seem right to us, that’s what makes them feel real. it’s okay to feel unsettled like it’s supposed to challenge you, but that discomfort doesn’t mean that the plot is bad. it doesn’t mean the characters are automatically “trash” or irredeemable . some stories may deliberately dive into morally complex themes to explore, guilt, obsession, trauma, or control. it’s possible for authors to depict something problematic without promoting it. that’s what fiction does: it gives us space to explore the ugly sides of humanity in ways real life doesn’t allow. not every story is meant to be your moral guidebook. sometimes it’s just about showing how messed up people can be and how they live with it, or don’t. you can critique a story without flattening it into “good” or “bad.” complexity isn’t a flaw, it’s the whole point. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
