He is indeed in a better situation now and he worked hard to achieve it. Yes he can go to therapy but some people choose to avoid it because that's how they have been doing it all along, avoiding it... Another thing is that his parents are unable to give him emotional support which is very important as a kid who is as young as he is in chapter 72.
And I'm not justifying his actions to dan, this is just my analyzation since I have studied how kids experiences at a young age could affect how they would handle things as an adult.
