50years ago? If its the baby's mother, she is too old. Maybe the letter is about the old man's daughter having new family on foreign land, and then she have a daughter too. And maybe that daughter is the baby's mother? Its just my assumption tho. It will be cliché tho, but i really want our Uke to have someone he can call as family other than his baby and his (future) husband.
