I think those stories where they make the backstory 'mc and ml had already met in childhood' for no reason, i just find it lazy, no one needed that and it's just repetitive. They probably just wanted to give that 'aww fate' trope but idk, i just find it lazy and unnecessary also i doubt people really do remember their childhood friends unless they had some unique events or a photograph. Just a personal dislike.
