Long rant session :l skip to end for conclusion
I read up until ch.16 on another website but the comments there PMO so badly. Idk if this is based off of a novel (I don't think so) but the comments were full of sympathy and positiveness for the ml. They were so braindead it physically hurt to be literate.
I get having sympathy for the man waking up in a completely different timeline and losing all of his political power and status, but why are we ignoring the fact that the mc probably ran away from him because he felt he had a good reason to do so.
I haven't seen their full past history, the story as far as I've seen isn't there yet, however. The emperor and main character had such a difference in power dynamic both in status and physical strength (cultivation) from what I've seen. "No" most likely wasn't something that was allowed to be in his vocabulary as his class was much lower and he was more so to serve the emperor. Considering this it's reason enough to why he finds the present timeline has given him much more freedom and rights as a human being.
The ml is kind of pushy and a little controlling due to his high past status as emperor. Maybe not as bad as other ml's I've seen since he can actually be coaxed and stops (sometimes). But he still pushes this unbalanced power dynamic onto the main character because he's used to it being that way; him having the control and power over others.
I don't think he's the worst character from what I've seen, I think there will definitely be future nuance to their realtionship from the light foreshadowing I've seen of their childhood, however he definitely has done some questionable and messed up sh*t, yet all I see is either indifference and even slight shade thrown at the main character of all people.
*Example: Spoilers to around chapter 13-15 idr
–ML gets pushy with the MC.
–MC is not having it and resolutely states that he does not want to do so and pushes him away.
–While talking MC throws some slight shade (it was literally one sentence) at ML who is actively trying to SA HIM..
–ML puts MC under hypnosis and continues to rape him without his consent.
Now tell me why the commenters, who knew said context of said situation, completely ignored it and shaded not the ml, but the MC FOR OFFHANDEDLY SAYING SMT IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT AS HE'S GETTING ASSAULTED. (it was honestly deserved considering the context)
Conclusion: People have rose colored glasses for the ml
