Despite my title, this was an enjoyable read. I blindly picked it up after seeing the title and the thumbnail. And when I said blindly, I meant it. I didn't read any of the comments, reviews, or tags. I just started reading it. And boy was I surprised!!
I was not expecting the graphic sexual scenes at all. Nor was I expecting this manga to be so well-written depicting such harsh truths about love, yourself, and what you value in life. Plus it was really funny in certain moments too. A few times, I had to stop reading because I was laughing too hard -- mostly at Tevon's dialogue.
I will say this: I knew the CP was really in love with the FL but arrogance was his downfall. Just as I knew the FL was deeply in love but her modern society thinking would not allow her to play second fiddle in CP's life after all she had sacrificed.
As for the elves: Those beautiful, horny, lying MFs!! You learned all your techniques from a tree??
I'm about to get some hate with this comment, but I can't keep in any longer: I can't stand the ML. I don't think he's a good partner for the FL. The ML doesn't feel like he had any growth in the years they have been apart. He doesn't match the FL's emotional maturity. He gives off a childlike vibe that doesn't resonate with me. Being childlike when they first met, fine, okay, even though he's several years older than her, but in the subsequent years apart he hasn't grown -- only in height. We don't see him do any training (sword or magic) that will help facilitate his mental growth. Yes, the FL is more mature due her circumstances, but the ML is the Crown Prince and needs the mental wherewithal to handle that position. Right now they feel too mixed match to form any adult relationship. And, no, I didn't want him to turn into an aloof ML but I would hope the author would tune down that goofball side of him or at least give him more than physical maturity to balance it out.
I saw it coming but I was hoping that Ning Bei and Su Qinghe would not get back together again. I'm sure there was a better woman for Ning Bei in Dragon City, but the author wanted to them to be an item. Sad.
Also what is with this sudden need for recuperating from an injury plot device?? Didn't MC return to the city for revenge against his family members who tried to kill his family?? Suddenly having a wound that the MC never mentions even to himself in passing is just suspect. I don't mind new villains showing up in the story, but the internal injury wasn't needed. Lastly, what's the point of having so many warriors underneath you, but you try to handle all the issues yourself. Let them step into the light too.
(I still believe the Tang twins were a better fit for Ning Bei.)
My Harrison has returned to be reunited with Cherry!! I thought he'd have Eden's sister with him too since it took him so long to reach the hide-out, but, no problem, as I was mostly worried about Harrison making it to the camp.
Now I'm ready for the 2nd season!!
I was intrigued by the title and to see what drama it would bring. It started off predictable, which I don't mind, but then it hit me with a banger!! The duke was a regressor and he realized he was a character in a book!! That's a rarity in the romance/drama world, so I was more invested to see how this played out.
But it didn't...So far there isn't any real obsessiveness from the duke, except over some letters and not over his wife. The FL is a boring cutout who has lost her spark from the beginning. For the ML to be her favorite character she doesn't treat him like it at all. (She should learn from Hestia how to treat a bias!!) In fact their interactions are dull and lack any signs of affection or growing affection. Dull...dull...dull...even their horses have a better love story!!
Honestly, I'm only sticking around for Eunice and William's story as they are way more engrossing/intriguing than the main characters. Too bad this story wasn't about them. A painter and a prince.

I swear this author must have had a bad experience with the men in their life as they write some of the shittiest MLs in each of their stories. While their MLs aren't the worse I've read -- theirs do rank on the list.
Of the other two MLs I've read by this author, Bjorn ranks higher than them, which isn't saying much. As Bjorn's saving grace, so far, is he hasn't raped his FL. So you can see the bar is set very, very low amongst her MLs.
And the author's poor FLs -- they are usually smart, pretty, and dainty. They are removed from high society life, but through unforeseen plot issues end up on the shitty MLs radars and have to suffer the worst kinds of insults and derision from those outside their ranks and from the MLs whom the author/plot has chained them to. (Those poor women!!)
Erna & Bjorn: I haven't dropped your story, I almost did, but I decided to give y'all a chance. I'm glad that Erna finally decided that her love was not worth giving to her husband when he was barely doing the necessary to reciprocate it. And Bjorn is doing some self-reflection finally, so it's time to see how much groveling he needs to bring his wife back home. (Answer: TONS!!)
So FL is reliving her life after being killed for being the product of a taboo. I understand that she felt like if she got her half-brother to be given the Head of Family title she would survive. And her secondary plan was to go to the academy to get a chance to study abroad. HOWEVER!! After rape at the hands of her bro (who also has been drugging her with an aphrodisiac) why wasn't secondary plan moved up to the primary. She could have saved herself from the second SA from the demon heir if she had just taken some money, cut her hair, dyed it, and disappeared into the night with her father believing she was at school. I guess getting all those riches/nobility triumphs against saving your own life.
I can't give this story props for having the FL run-a-way, since she didn't plan anything, because it was a spur of the moment action brought about by nonstop pain, derision, and feelings of uselessness. But I wanted at least a confrontation once she found the papers in the desk. Or she could have turned solid almost stone or robotic where she methodically begins to plan her departure from the ducal household. Nope!! The rain will ease my hurt and erase these tears. (¬_¬)
And as other commenters have pointed out the lack of communication between the FL and ML is too damn high!! FL is too timid to speak up about anything and the ML (douche!!) is too much of a narcissist/sadist who sees the shenanigans going on in his own home and upper society and does nothing to alleviate his wife's concerns or to admonish the staff around her, instead he's off thinking: Soon she'll grovel to me to fix her life. SOON!! ◔◔
ML2 might have come off as a viable rival as he listened to the FL about her concerns and fears. But he too soon proved himself to be a sleaze and manipulator. He's all about setting her free and helping her find her own path/space in life, but withholds vital information from her to make him seem like the better choice. (Bro, I saw you screwing her husband's ex-fiancee in the hallway, when that mansion has like 40 rooms available!! Get real!!) ಠ╭╮ಠ

However, I powered through these chapters as it was soon becoming predictable and boring only to hop over to Novel Spoilers and realize this adaption barely resembles the LN it was adapted from. UUGGHH!!
Having read the later part of the novel, I have been holding back on some changes they made for the adaptation. But no more!! One of the most beautiful and heartbreaking scenes was cut out, so they could get to the children arc.
Novel Spoiler: After the king's most recent brush with death, he holds on when he learns from Kael that Hestia is pregnant. After Hestia gives birth and it is safe to have the baby meet others -- his parents present him to the king. The king raised Kael and thought of him as another son, so he didn't want to leave the world without seeing the face of his grandchild. I'm not doing it any justice, but it was a beautifully written scene in which the king saw his heart-adopted son whole and happy once again. Then he passed a day later.
Honestly, I started reading this because I was curious about the cover. Curiosity appeased. However, now I kinda wished I hadn't read it and not because of the sex/harem thing, but more because I can sense a good story that came and ended too quickly. (LOL!!)
I'm super interested in the FL's rise to power as queen by basically denouncing her own game and instead making her own pathway, but still under the mercy of a status screen. Also, I would like a more fleshed out story with all the men in the harem -- we see how she gained her wolf, but I want to see how she seduced and acquired all the rest of her men. 'Cause it nice to read a woman who isn't a blushing virgin all the time and knows what she wants in and out of the bedroom.
