i just want to point what i think the author is showing in this chapter. yes it’s set in america, so in theory it should be accepted or significantly *more* normalised, but that isn’t always how it plays out in real life. legal acceptance does not mean social acceptance, even if it’s a blue state. the author included the scene with luke’s old classmate on purpose, including the pressure to get back together with his ex. it shows prejudice still may exist in their state, and that what is expected of him, is to date a woman. even an unhealthy and toxic relationship is more socially accepted than his current relationship.
at the end of the day their relationship is in a fragile phase. the author shows what being in a gay relationship is like after living your whole life thinking you’re straight. luke talks about having to relearn how to act in public, and how it’s difficult to not be able to be openly affectionate with your partner, because it goes against everything from his previous relationship. that it’s almost like being in a relationship for the first time. considering they just mutually confirmed their feelings, facing prejudice could hurt them. you never truly know what reaction you will get and it’s best to play it safe and be careful in public because it could ruin their relationship
we should sacrifice this bl so all the peak ones stop going on hiatus. trust
it’s boring, the plot is dragging on and has been going nowhere. you may be into r*pe, i’m not. it was unnecessary and killed the entire buildup for their relationship. i don’t think there’s any saving this, no matter how good the rest of the novel is. people have different opinions. however, a bl being shit when it includes r*pe is objectively a fact. in no world would they EVER have a normal relationship after all that. the author needs to put the pen down. clearly shows they haven’t experienced anything themselves, it’s extremely disrespectful

You're right that in THIS world there's no way for them to come back from it. Which is why in a few chapters Boss Kang will die and Ahjin will wake up in another hospital room, as the beloved young master of a wealthy family just like Mrs. Flowers said he SHOULD BE. in the alternate Universe Boss Kang (now Mr.Kang) works for Ahjin, and has never raped him. Ahjin has his memories, but again, THIS Kang has done absolutely nothing to him.
It's essentially a "he raped me in our past life but after regressing I changed things" storyline but with the twist of us actually seeing the past like first, and with the twist of the complete reversal of the power dynami bc alternate dimension.
On another note, Art is a matter of perspective and subjectivity, so no, any art work with rape in it is not "objectively" anything. It all comes down to the viewer.
As another note; different people deal with things differently. Some people who have dealt with rape and abuse in their real lives channel that into art because art is expression that you have control over. Rape is about power and control, creating a universe where you can stop the abuse at any point with a wave of your hand is a valid and common way to deal with trauma from rape and abuse. Some people even re-create their violent rape in a BDSM scene, all so they can stop it with their safeword and replace the memory of powerlessness with one of being in complete control.

IM ACTUALLY DEVASTATED WDYM THE ARTIST WAS CHANGED?? the new season (ch64) begins with the same artist then from 67 onwards its a different one and unfortunately the art doesn’t even begin to compare kms
NOOO
Fuck i hope it doesn't change too much
It’s going to be an adjustment that’s for sure. Hopefully we’ll get used to it. I just want to see these two finally get together!
