re-reading season 3 in the mature version just reminds me of how great this series was :( s1 and 2 were masterpieces but something happened and it fell so hard. honestly if you're diving in blind just s1 and 2 is enough.

also the art style feels weird too. like s1 author's note said the artist changed every single one of wolfgang's earlobes to match the new design and then s3 has some frames like look so wonky it's hard to imagine this was the same author and artist that had that kind of dedication. honestly disappointed and sad :(

I like to think of s3 as a full on fan service side stories after all the chaos that we went through the last 2 seasons. S1 and s2 were heavier in terms of plot as well so s3 seems completely unserious. Quite honestly it feels like the author was asked to pump out one more season to bank of the initial popularity and while I was initially perturbed, seeing Shin and Wolfgang having some soft peaceful moments has made me change my mind a bit. Still think it's unserious but now I'm treating it unseriously as well so doesn't feel as bad now.
Also this took almost 3 years to come back. I guess the author had a lot of issues with production. Explains the weird art and story.

For anyone confused about why a congressman's granddaughter is a servant in the palace:
In noble times, royal families had higher up families as their servants--(like how the queens of england had ladies-in-waitings (basically their assistants/servants) that were from noble or rich families. This helps the nobility too bec they get to be closer to the royal family and can form good connections. This also props up the royal families' reputation (since you can't have just anyone so close to the king).
It was an honor for nobility back then to be chosen! Ofc, King's Maker universe might be a bit different but hopefully that clears up some confusion
