Mannnn if the author focuses on Dedris or wtv her name is, they could really flesh out trauma and the effects of it on a persons psyche. Her mom basically made her unable to display any form of sympathy or empathy properly. If she’s in even the slightest bit of distress she abandons whoever is causing it. And I can’t blame her her mother is vile wtf. I feel it would be very interesting to see her trying to come to terms with her severe mental health issues and trying to actively fix them.
