Josh is a manipulative liar. Josh is also bad ass and amazing and I love him. But he's a selfish ass for hiding all this from Chase. But he's so cool (=・ω・=)
The dichotomy of man ...
I mean, my comment was supposed to be more of a joke, But for arguments sake, now they are close... what's the excuse for holding back?
Yes he tells him eventually but only because chase finds out! Josh had every intention of just walking away while lying the whole time. I do get why in a way and I didn't have a problem to start with at all. But while reading the novel, I couldn't help but feel icky. Poor chase has been lied to and manipulated by everyone he should be able to trust and Josh is just another one to do the same. It's just sad. But like I said, Josh is also awesome... so I'm torn. Hence my original comment.
Bottom line, if what happened to Chase by the end happened to me I'd be pissed and unsure if I could forgive and get on with it. That was my overall reaction to the novel. Not saying I'm right, just couldn't help but feel that way.
Your opinion is totally valid btw, I didnt realise it was a joke hshshs
I understand both pov because the situation is complicated. They dont even know each other before the first time they had sex. Chase will feel betrayed by Josh for sure, but he also will explore his feelings more and realise there's more to the situation. I'm not invalidating Chase's feeling, the situation is that complicated for both of them. But thankfully they got to solve it together
So the attempted break in is never mentioned again? That was his doing too wasn't it? That's so scary - I bet that's why it was ignored, so the author didn't have to have him admit to that!
I'm up for stories like this, I think it's was balanced in how she left him. I prefer it when they admit it's toxic and bad, which i feel the author definitely did here. Maybe there was an attempt at redemption but I still wouldn't trust him, but the fl is on board with it so I guess it's fine.
Shame it didn't finish.
