If I remember correctly I read that Derrick has NEVER seen Penelope as his sister, he has been in love with her since they were kids... The reason he wanter her to stop calling him 'brother' is because it made him feel like HE was a bad guy, so he wanted her to treat him not as family but a stranger. He blamed Penelope, not himself, for falling in love with her.
So to everyone saying 'Oh I feel bad for him bcs hes just brainwashed' NAHH, he's a shit person who treated the OG Penelope and this one like shit just so he doesn’t feel like a creep.
(Also him remembering Penelope calling him 'Young Master' instead of 'Brother' just feels so freaking URGHHH)
