I get what you mean. I honestly hated him at first. I couldn’t wait for mc to run away. It would’ve been even better if some other alpha were to swoop in, help the mc and snatch him away. Honestly anything was better than mc ending up with ml. But as the story progressed, i guess i grew a soft spot for ml. I am actually really amazed at his character development and how far their relationship has come now. Author did a really good job redeeming the ml. Majority of the time, the abuse is either glossed over or the ml is forgiven very easily. This character development of ml felt just right. You don’t see it often.

You expressed what I wanted to say much better lol. I totally agree! He is one of the few who recognized his faults and who did his best to be forgiven, even if it meant no longer being part of the life of the mc and just observing and helping from afar.

I think what sealed the deal for me was seeing him have a panic attack when mc went to the sea. You could actually feel his anxiety and nervousness. I also liked that the author showed how ml still feels guilty for how he behaved in the past (you can even see it in the side stories). I know i know, the bar seems very low. But bl ml’s are often so easily forgiven and you never see them show any guilt or remorse.

As the story ends, the characters live a happy life as if the past sufferings of the mc never happened. That is impossible unless mc has amnesia. Seeing these toxic and shitty ml forgiven so easily always left a bad taste in my mouth. If you really loved your partner, you would always feel remorse for hurting them (past or present). Yes the bar is low but atleast the ml here acknowledges his toxic behaviour and has genuinely repented. Based on his actions, you can tell that he has changed for the better.

Once again, I agree! For example, in Rose & Champagne, it's completely the opposite and horrible to see how trivialized everything is. Here, even though it was so serious, Taeju is aware of it and we can see that he's paying attention, etc., and really loves the MC. Afterwards, the author only shows us certain parts, so we can imagine that at a certain point, the problem from the past still comes back. In the end, Taeju is no longer a thug if I understand correctly (maybe he started again afterward?), but let's not forget that he's still in a somewhat special family, even if they get along well.

But I really agree that what happened can't be forgotten. I don't even really know how the MC could have fallen in love... apart from the fact that he's the first person who showed him some attention. In the Omegaverse, it's more special because there's always this destined pair thing and the alpha/omega bond that still plays a role, I feel, even if it doesn't excuse all that, that's for sure. (The rut part....)

But the ending is still enjoyable to read because they're happy.

for me personally its the way the author did not try to justify taeju's behavior in any way. like yk how with most of these works , the authors would show us some sort of sob backstory as if its supposed to "explain" the ml's actions whether its childhood trauma or parental neglect etc.

however euja never giving any such reasons for taeju just makes his realization and redemption feel (idk how to word it but) more genuine?? and also as the op said about him still feeling guilty in the side stories , i like how the author is not leaving any major plot points or grossing over them.

also the fact how she made them talk every thing out towards the end of the main story like the hospital scene. tbh i hardly remember any other mc standing his ground and voicing whatever happened in the past. although yeah the conversation could have been more detailed out but its still better than the bar set by other such stories
